During his first year of medical school at the University of Michigan, Elliott had trouble connecting to fellow students because most medical students streamed lectures online rather than attended the live lectures. He began asking students to lunch or coffee to develop relationships with his classmates. After several weeks, he heard of a program at Harvard Medical School called Lunch Love that randomly paired students for lunch. Elliott developed a similar program at UMMS and realized that random coffee/lunch chats could help bring many different communities together.
